Theatre Wallay is a company consisting of amateur artists, including actors, directors, writers, graphic artists, set designers, technicians. As a group of people with a passion for theatre and literature, we organise plays, readings, workshops and other activities consistent with our goal for providing good clean theatre to Islamabad. Théâtre Wallay aims at promoting quality theatre and giving people a platform to express themselves through this medium. It strives to create theatre that can appeal to audiences across the social, ethnic and religious divides. It also strives to provide entertainment and growth opportunities to children and young people.
Theatre Wallay started off as a small amateur group in 2005, and it has grown over the years and has become known in Islamabad for good quality theatre. Since 2005, the group has put up on average two plays a year, including works such as “The First and the Last”, “No Exit”, “Tartuffe” and “The Lesson”. We perform plays hailing from world literature in English and Urdu. We are also open to doing plays in the regional languages of Pakistan.
Recently Theatre Wallay has become very active in training young people for the stage, holding workshops in many educational institutions in the region.
We also enjoy working in collaboration with other groups that share our vision, and have, in recent months, organised poetry recitation and reading sessions with the Alliance Francaise d’Islamabad, the Academy of Letters, the Asian Study Group, and the English Speaking Union, amongst others.
All those interested in learning, performing or taking part in theatrical activities are welcome to join us.
