Lahore: On the evening of 27th July 2022, the city of Lahore echoed with laughter, nostalgia, and applause as Theatre Wallay brought Marhoom Ki Yaad Mein to the stage at the 25th Alhamra Festival. Based on the timeless and sharp wit of the legendary Urdu humorist Pitras Bukhari, the play was a delightful blend of satire, irony, and hilarity – a perfect homage to one of the finest humorists in Urdu literature.

Dramatized and directed by Imran Iftikhar, the production skillfully transformed Bukhari’s written word into a vibrant and engaging stage performance. The cast – Usama Khan, Saboora Marium, Ramil Aftab, Umer Farooq Bhatti, Adil Yousuf, and Zia Rehman – brought an incredible energy to the performance, embodying Bukhari’s characters with charm and wit.
Among them, Umer Farooq Bhatti stood out not only for his remarkable performance but also for playing a pivotal role behind the scenes. It was through his tireless efforts and coordination with Alhamra that Theatre Wallay was able to bring this gem of a performance to Lahore. He also represented the group at the Festival, ensuring the spirit of Theatre Wallay was present both on and off the stage.
The response from the audience was overwhelming. Laughter filled the hall throughout the performance, and as the curtains came down, the actors were met with a standing ovation – a true testament to the enduring brilliance of Pitras Bukhari’s humor and the collective talent of the Theatre Wallay team.
